Whether you’re considering selling your home or continue living in it, there is a good chance there are things on your to do list that you have been planning for years. It very likely involves decluttering; it is on my list.
Decluttering can be overwhelming, and here are three tips on how to prepare to declutter. First, set out three bins. One is for trash, one is for donations and the other is to sell. This tip is especially helpful if you are planning to move.
The second is to categorize what you’re going to declutter. If you have loads of one thing, put all of them in one place so that you can get rid of the ones you no longer want to keep and only keep your favorites. For example, I have a friend that has at least a hundred pairs of shoes. Going through them all at one time really helps to purge the ones she rarely or never wears.
The third thing is to know your storage space. If you’re moving or if you’ve been putting things in storage, it helps you right size from the larger space to a smaller one. Let us know if you’d like contacts to professionals that can help you with decluttering and anything additional we may do.
